Witchers of Nifelheim - Part 6

As Rogue slashed at the parasites with his machete, the weapon unexpectedly went through them, without any resistance or damage. Its as if you took a swing at empty air, an empty air that used the opportunity to sink its teeth in your forearm, before Morgan swooped you off the street.


(Rogue suffered -2 HP damage, 28 HP remaining)


"Conventional weapons are useless against the parasites!" Lightning called, unfolding her wings "Only a Witcher's blade or magic will work!"


"BURN IN THE DEEPEST PITS OF HELL!" Viktoria barked, taking another long swing with her scythe, then shrieked and recoiled, as she felt Twilight appear in the middle of her attack arc. Her swing, initially meant to cut through 5 enemies at the same time, ended up only going through two of them and the scythe clumsily flying upward and almost smacking Viktoria in the face, as she tried to change the weapons trajectory away from Twilight.

As Twilight grabbed a firm hold of her daughter and took off the ground, the remaining three parasites jumped, sinking their teeth into your ankles.


(Twilight suffered -3 HP damage, 18 HP remaining)

(Viktoria suffered -3 HP damage, 48 HP remaining)


Releasing an infuriated shriek, Viki released a stream of searing fire that engulfed the parasites, sending them to the ground as piles of ash.


The chaos and noise of the battlefield still rang in your ears as you landed on top of the roof and it took you several seconds to get your bearings again, before you realized you weren't under attack anymore. Whatever parasites still remained, clawed at the walls, jumping and falling just short, before disappearing in the Shimmer.

The streets became filled with a uniform shriek, as several hundred parasites dissolved in the thin carper of green, that flooded the city. You could almost see their form fading into the Shimmer, turning to skeletons and disappearing in the glowing liquid.

As Ursula scooped up Adam and Kaylee lifted up Circi, the rest of the group began landing around you, on the same roof or the adjacent ones. Far in the distance, some 200 meters away, you could hear the veteran Witchers of Sleipnir, finally enter the city, following in your footsteps, making their way through the ruins and lagging behind.


"Tsk. Took them long enough." Lighting muttered, shifting her head away from them and toward the castle towers, at the city center.

"Move!" Bastila roared and with a running jump, launched herself onto the adjacent roof. Landing feet first, she began hopping rooftop to rooftop, even if her feet didn't make it all the way through, she simply ran up the wall and onto the roof again, as a teal glow surrounded the souls of her boots.
All the while, a uniform carpet of green flowed through the streets, between buildings, covering every inch of the ground.

You got a nasty feeling in the pit of your stomach, when you began to suspect that the buildings were slowly sinking into the Shimmer as well, but if it was so, they were sinking too slowly to notice.

And Bastila continued to jump through the rooftops, heading toward the city center. It was built on a hill, with much taller structures and towers, and the rising levels of Shimmer haven't quite reached it yet.


When that un-flooded district seemed about a kilometer away, you suddenly heard an unnerving female laugh, emanating from somewhere ahead. Bastila stopped in her tracks and summed her two handed blade. In the brief silence that followed, you only heard the Shimmer, bubbling below, flowing and dragging pieces of debris through the streets, before the same laugh echoed, but this time, directly behind you.

You don't sense anyone in a 150 radius around you however.

"Um, do we know any evil women on this planet?" Rogue asks, "You know, that we haven't already dealt with?"

Rain scowls, checking over her shoulder, "I have a bad feeling about this one. Lets not let them jump us again yeh?"

Circi glances across the battlefield, looking for the source of the laughter. Her black eyes scan across the shimmering city, searching for the laughter.

Morgan summons her glaive with a stylish spin. Then positions herself to be guarding the group's flank.

As you scan your surroundings, you only see ravaged three-story buildings with gable roofs, dimly lit from below by the Shimmer. For a moment, you thought you pinpointed the laughter, coming from street level, just below the roof you were standing on, then it suddenly echoed again, from the completely opposite direction:

"...~little Witchers... came to play~...

...~Twelve of you... and here will stay~..." A distinct female voice echoed, before it duplicated, sounding from two different directions, then three, then four, speaking in unison yet sounding identical.


You felt Bastila tense, her armored glove tightening over her blade, the armor plates on her body screeching, as she started ducking into a low stance, her teeth gritting:
"No... not now... what are they doing, so far from their stomping ground?"



"...~in large teams you like to fight... of your weakness you lose sight~...
...~what will happen, when they're gone?... what will come, when you're alone?~..." the voices began multiplying at an unnerving rate, creating the feeling that you were surrounded.


You felt Ursula jitter in panic, frantically spinning her head around and wildly waving her rapier. Her breathing hastened, and as Twelve parasites suddenly and rapidly entered your detection radius, she frantically screamed:

"Mistilteinn Sisters!"



The attack happened rapidly, a series of explosions pierced the rooftop, sending small chunks of debris to rain over you, as the twelve parasites closed in from all directions. The momentary relief you felt when every shot missed, was quickly replaced by a dread, when you realized the shots of magic were meant to scatter you and as you blinked, you realized there was a parasite standing directly in front of you. One, in front of each party member.


You sensed they mimicked human physiology. Transparent beings, glowing a faint orange, no taller than 2 meters in height. Clad in plate armor that covered every inch of their body, even their faces obscured by a helmet and visor, with a long plume stretching from the top of the helmet and all the way to their lower back. They reminded you of the knights of old, dating back centuries. Long swords grasped in their hands, they looked completely identical.


"...~win the duel and go higher~..." they gracefully gestured to the castle towers.
"...~cheat or trick and you'll expire~..."


"We don't have time for your bullshit!" Bastila roared, baring her teeth "Out of my way!"


"Tisk, tisk, those ain't the rules" the twelve giggled in eerie unison "Big sister is watching." As the words left their lips, a thirteen figure darted from somewhere below and heavily landed on an adjacent roof, some 20 meters away.


"KILL YOURSEEEEELVES!!!"  Bastila shrieked at them, which prompted another eerie, unison laughter:


"...~waste your breath and nowhere getting... dawdle, while your tower's melting~..." the twelve giggled, as you noted the geyser of Shimmer, slowly covering the castle towers in splotches of green.

"Show no mercy!" Morgan calls "Makes these whores regret ever challenging us!" She prepares to strike.

"RIP AND TEAR!!!!" The last words come out in a rage filled growl as Morgan darts forward unleashing a torrent of glaive attacks.

Twilight raised an eyebrow at the one trying to appear before her, despite her body still being airborne and not on a building.

"You do realize that you just violated the rules of a duel yourselves, right? Or is that part of the specific 'fair' ruleset you laid out and haven't bothered to tell us?"

Her wing flapped, she seems ready for whatever sneak attack they tried.

Rain brings her club to her shoulder. She doesn't say anything in response. She begins circling her target to the left, both hands on her club. She suddenly lunges forward with a quick tap from her weapon, aiming for his jaw.

Circi takes a deep breath, centering herself. Her spider legs adjust into a defensive stance, her hands ball into fists. Circi makes the first move, closing the distance. A spider leg tilts itself downward against her unguarded side, as she strikes out with a jab into the knights helmet. She follows up, her bottom right spider leg suddenly lashes out in a stab to the right of the knights stomach, while Circi delivers a kick to the left leg.

"How dare" the parasite knight said in a deadpan, raising her sword parallel to the ground and aiming it at one of your eyes.

Rogue wrote:"Don't suppose we can have a rap battle?" Rogue asks.

"Rap Battle?" the knight titled her head "...what's a Rap Battle? You have peaked my interest, human."




"Ursula, who are these clowns!?" Kaylee screamed out, leaping back and into the air, as her paired knight slashed at her in a wide arc.

"They're proof that immortality doesn't exist, even for parasites." Ursula grimaced "The one they call 'Big Sister'? The thirteenth parasite watching the battle, but not taking part? She's an Ancient, who lived for so long, she eventually went mad.

She became obsessed with the concept of dueling. One on one combat, where she can observe the opponents unique weaknesses. She then multiplies by Mitosis and forces skilled Witchers to battle her offsprings.
If the Witcher loses, he dies. If he wins however, he is never challenged by her again. Which is theoretically possible, since her offsprings are nowhere near her level.

Some particularly twisted individuals seek her out, on purpose, to beat her challenge as some sort of right of passage, or for bragging rights. Some even avoid getting dropped dead in a ditch.

But her stomping ground is around the Mistilteinn Castle Town, was so for a millennia. That's why she and her flock were nicknamed the 'Mistilteinn Sisters'. The hell are they doing in Sleipnir??"



"What did she mean by 'Cheat' tho?!" Kaylee yelled, from somewhere above.

"If you try turning it into a 2 vs 1 battle, against one of them, the Big Sister will smite you." Ursula winced "She's an Ancient, I wouldn't recommend it."










A sudden tremor rocked the roof you were standing on and it titled slightly, by a 5 degrees angle. Then you felt the building begin gradually descending into the Shimmer, slowly but steadily.

Morgan wrote:"RIP AND TEAR!!!!" The last words come out in a rage filled growl as Morgan darts forward unleashing a torrent of glaive attacks.

The parasite in knights armor leaped back, raising her sword to block the attacks, but there were so many, a few of your stabs got through. Most of those deflected off the parasite armor with a metalic ringing, but two got in between the plates, prompting a brief shriek.

With your last strike, the knight grabbed your glaive with one hand, as you were pulling it back and didn't let you retract it. Standing to the side of the glaive and away from its edge, holding it firmly pressed against her side, the parasite made a stabbing lunge with her blade, aiming right at your face.

You notice her left arm begin to smoke and catch fire, as she held the glaive with her armored glove.

The parasite smirked, then suddenly threw her hand out and you realized you were hearing a rapidly approaching Kusarigama, essentially a sharp hook on the end of a chain, rapidly unfolding toward you, or more accurately, toward your wings. The motion was so sudden and silent, it didn't register in your hearing until the hook was only a few centimeters away from your left wing.

"GET OVER HERE!" the parasite shrieked, as a fireball began materializing in her unoccupied hand.

Rain wrote:She begins circling her target to the left, both hands on her club. She suddenly lunges forward with a quick tap from her weapon, aiming for his jaw.

As if in slow motion, you felt the parasite lean to the right with its upper torso, the bolt from your club passing inches away from its face. And in the same motion, the parasite extended its palm in your direction. You didn't hear the dagger fly, until it was an inch away from your head and you didn't have enough time to react.

As you reflexively flinched away from the line of fire, you felt the blade cut through the skin on your cheek, leaving a long cut that started to burn, long after the blade had left it.

(An unknown substance has entered Rain's bloodstream, her Viral Load has increased.)


It was the fault of the blindfold, you were still trying to get your bearings on how to fight blind and relying on your other senses, even when they were amplified. It didn't seem like the parasite had any blindfolds however and she tried moving as silently as possible.

She was doing something with her left hand now

The parasite jerked back and to the right, letting the first strike glaze over her helmet, narrowly missing her head. The stab connected however, squeezing in between armor plates and piercing the parasites stomach and the kick to her leg made her fall down on one knee.

The parasite smirked however, latching onto your spider leg that was still stuck in her stomach. A layer of flame engulfed her palm and jumped onto Circi's spider leg, quickly spreading across the Sinners appendage and rapidly approaching her body, as the parasite cooked a fireball in her palm.

A series of startled shrieks attracted your attention, coming from a rooftop, several blocks from here. A small group of people were climbing out of windows on the top floor and trying to reach the roof, as their building rapidly sank into the Shimmer. Even as half of them somehow clawed their way onto the roof, they quickly realized there was nowhere else to go from there, all the adjacent houses were too far from the jump.

You could hear them collapse to their knees, wailing and crying, as their structure sunk deeper and deeper into the flood of Shimmer below. You estimate their building will become fully submerged in some 30 seconds from now.

Using the back of her gauntleted forearm Morgan parries the sword strike to the side. Letting go of the glaive at the same time she un summons the weapon as she leads in by grabbing the Sister by her upper face and releasing a first level fireball at point blank range.

The hand that parried the sword attack summons forth the glaive again. The bladed polearm impales itself in the side of the Sister's neck. Using the blade as a lever and all of her strength Morgan then attempts to tear the head off her opponent.

"RAAAAGGGGHHHH!!!" Morgan lets out a scream that could only be described as blood lust

Circi draws her hunting knife and severs the connection between her and the knight in a swift swipe. Ciri reaches out, grabbing onto the Knights spell casting hand, then pulls her arm over her shoulder. She roars, her spider legs pushing into the knight lifting her weight, and gaining momentum as she lifts her into a twist, and slams her face first into the roof. Circi raises a foot, and plants it onto her neck, ripping her arm backwards and suddenly yanking her back, pulling her across the roof in an erratic zigzag with the aid of her spider legs. Circi stomps and crashes her heel against the knights helmet to keep her confused.

Rain nods, "Faster then." Rain shoulders her weapon, and casts sheild on herself. Rain huffs, bringing the fight closer, she focuses in on her other senses. She takes a deep breath, smelling the air, her ears flick towards her opponent, then she strikes. Its a sudden onslaught, her club circling around her, over her head, to the left, to the right, its never clear where her next attack is coming from, the club being in constant motion around her, "A fair fight. Sounds like good practice. I have been training a new style I learned in boot camp. I didn't understand it at ths time, but after much practice, I am one with the weight of my weapon." She hums.

Twilight spun, moving in the same direction as the blade and the away, so the hook only nicked her wing. The turn and damage make her fall for a bit, but she grits her teeth and makes a sharp turn right at her opponent.

Her eyes narrow, noticing that due to the fact her enemy has her hands currently occupied she might not be able to react fast enough. She charged and shot a 1st level fire ball at the helmet, then drew her rapier and slashed the leg in passing, hidden from sight by the flames.

"A duel of rhymes rather than blades" Rogue replies, "I just thought you might be bored of plain old swordfighting?"

(Morgan)


The parasites blade emitted a sharp metalic rang, as you deflected it with your armored forearm, the parasites hand veering off to the side. As you grabbed the parasites helmet, a stream of searing flame escaped your palms and engulfed the parasites head, the flames leaking in through the visor and inside the depths of the helmet.

The parasite started to shriek, and as you pulled your hands back to summon the glaive, she made a reflexive slash with her sword arm, across your neck. At such a close distance, it was almost impossible to miss.

A massive smear of arterial blood splashed over the rooftop, sending drops of it everywhere, as both of your carotid arteries and your windpipe were cut open. You started choking, gasping for breath as your senses dulled. The sounds around you became distant and muffled, the world trying to escape from you, as you palpably felt you may black out, as a result of a sudden loss of blood pressure, to your brain.

Somehow, you still felt your glaive digging into the parasites neck, but you no longer had the strength in your arms to finish tearing its head off. You felt the parasite pull itself off of your weapon and back off some 3 meters away, choking and gasping for breath, blood dripping from its mouth in droves and spilling onto the roof of the building, that continued to sink into the Shimmer.


All the while, the voices of the trapped civilians on an adjacent roof, became more and more distant, fading into the darkness. At this pace, their roof will be submerged in the next 15 seconds.

(Circi)


Your spider leg was severed with an unsettling pop, spraying black liquid and leaving the severed appendage stuck in the parasites stomach, as she looked at it horrified. The roof tiles cracked and were sent flying, as you lifted the parasite and slammed her down onto the roof. You heard her shoulder audibly crack, as you dislocated it from its socket, then another bone cracked in the same arm, as you twisted it.
You note your severed spider leg is still stuck in the parasites stomach.

Twisting her free hand behind her back, she suddenly discharged a fireball, aiming toward the base of your neck. The parasite fired blindly and the shot didn't seem to be aimed accurately, but being so close to her, you only had a fraction of a second to react.


All the while, the voices of the trapped civilians on an adjacent roof, became more and more frantic, as the building the were standing on, rapidly descended into the Shimmer. At this pace, their roof will be submerged in the next 15 seconds.





(Rain)


A teal, round, sparking shield materialized in front of your body with an audible pop, as you moved in. As you focused in on your senses, the distant cries of the civilians on the adjacent roof came in more clearly, becoming more frantic. The air smelled of ash and blood.

And a strange smell of heated rubber was becoming mixed in. You weren't sure were it was coming from, until you realized it was emanating from the Shimmer. Its fumes were rising into the air, choking you ever so slowly and subtly, but once you noticed it, it was difficult to ignore. It smelled like heated rubber and its subtle stench was beginning to nag at you.

As you unleashed a flurry of strikes on your opponent, she began to slowly retreat, taking one firm step at a time and slowly moving away from you, blocking and deflecting your strikes with her sword.

You began to notice that she's only using one hand to hold her sword. Her other hand was held back somewhat. Held at the ready. Something was happening there, that free hand didn't stay motionless, the fingers were moving, dancing over the wind.


A sudden vibration passed over the roof and you felt something crack in the structure. The building you were standing on began sinking into the Shimmer a little bit faster.








(Twilight)


The parasite ducked, as she retracted her chained weapon, the fireball passing narrowly close to her head. But staying crouched, this low to the ground, she couldn't react in time to the lighting fast slash of the rapier and a long cut was carved through her leg, making her fall on one knee, emitting a sharp cry, as blood sprayed over her armor and covering the tip of your rapier.


As you flew past her, trying to catch some distance from her, you suddenly felt a violent jerk back. The full extent of the damage didn't register right away, until you felt the Kusarigama's steel become embedded deep under your right shoulder-blade, as it suddenly and violently pulled you back, breaking your flight.

The force of the pull was so strong, the pain so sudden and horrifyingly paralyzing, you lost orientation, until a second later you violently crashed onto the roof, sending pieces of roof tiles flying everywhere.

Your wind knocked out of you, you felt as if your back was being torn apart. The Kusarigama's blade was stuck deep under your shoulder blade and each movement, whether it was yours or the parasites, brought about a paralyzing wave of pain, to ricochet over your body.


The parasite emitted a satisfied yell and jerked the chain again, sending another horrible wave of pain to wash over you, as she began dragging you closer, one of her palms started emitting a strange sound, as if something was swirling there, but you couldn't tell what.



Through the numbing pain, the voices of the trapped civilians on an adjacent roof, became more and more distant and dull, as the building the were standing on, rapidly descended into the Shimmer. At this pace, their roof will be submerged in the next 15 seconds.

(Twilight suffered -15 HP damage, 3 HP remaining)



"TWILIGHT!" You heard Alyx's frantic shriek, his voice coated in a chilling, icy blanket of horror and you palpably felt his fear. His unhinged fear of death
"THIS IS TOO MUCH! I CAN'T, I-" Alyx collapsed to his knees in the depths of your soul.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHHH!!!" His horrified, piercing shriek washed over you and you felt your Limit Break activate against your will. Ursula warned you it was the parasites defensive mechanism, its last resort in the face of death, but you've never experienced it first hand.

(Rogue)


"You have intrigued me, human. Indeed, I like trying new things." The parasite nodded
"Very well, I will face you in a Battle of Rap, To The Death!
Please be the first to begin, to show how such battle is done, and I shall follow suit."

"ARE YOU TWO SERIOUS!" Bastila angrily barked from somewhere behind you, accompanied by the ringing of steel, striking steel.

"Silence in the peanut gallery." The parasite called in a deadpan "Lest the Big Sister smites you."


As the sounds of battle echoed around you, the clashes of blades, sparks of steal, trails of fire, ice and deafening thunderclaps sounded, you felt the roof you were standing on shake. It felt as if it was descending into the Shimmer but the descent felt a little bit faster now.


And through it all, the voices of the trapped civilians on the adjacent roof, became more and more frantic. At this pace, their roof will be submerged in the next 15 seconds.

"KILL!!!" Morgan's growl sounded even more animal-like with her injured neck. Blood spraying through the slits on her helmet. Morgan darts forward and unleashes on the Sister.

She opens with a low level lightning bolt to the sword arm. Next a knee to the gut followed by an elbow to the temple. Morgan then jams her fingers into the already open wound on the Sister's neck, twists her hand, curls her fingers together, and then summons her glaive from inside her target.

(Morgan)


Turning her head toward the sound of your voice, lifting her sword and simply pointing it in your direction, was all the parasite could do, with the strength it had left and as you charged forward, you became impaled on the blade, right through your stomach.

The parasite had lifted the blade silently and you only realized what happened when the searing pain gripped your insides. But it was too late. As the deafening thunderclap echoed over the rooftop, the bolt of electricity flew off your finger tips and struck the parasite, turning her into a statue of ash.

The subsequent attacks only served to scatter its remains over the rooftop. The only thing of note, was that your glaive never materialized, as you shoved your fingers into the statues neck.


Rapidly breathing, you felt the arteries on your neck finally stitch themselves back together, the hole in your windpipe closed and the parasites sword fell out of your stomach.

(Morgan suffered -5 HP damage, 10 HP remaining)


"Eeeeeh... Morgan, you can't summon Witcher weapons inside solid objects" you heard your parasites voice echo "They won't materialize if there's obstruction in the way... good job though, only one other finished her duel this quickly."


Scanning the area, you noted that Viki wasn't fighting anyone and just anxiously observed the battlefield. Her duel ended when she drop kicked her parasite into the Shimmer. Everyone else was still locked in frenzied combat.

Twilight's duel drew your attention. She was in a bad spot, with a crooked blade on a chain, stuck in her back. With her laying on the floor, it seemed she was at the last of her strength. And Viktoria was watching very intently, subtly inching closer.


As this happens, you suddenly realize that 15 seconds had passed.

Morgan ran out of time to help the civilians on the adjacent rooftop.

"AAAARGH!!!" She screamed in pain, the grits her teeth.

"Dammit... Let's call it a draw."

Using the forcibly activated masquerade, her body seemed to make a very disturbing glow, before erupting in a 3rd level Dance of the swallow. Within the energy of that explosion, Twilight casted a fireball for real at the base of the neck, then follows by cutting the hand holding the chain to let go and making an escape from her opponents spell.

As the sounds of battle echoed around you, the clashes of blades, sparks of steal, trails of fire, ice and deafening thunderclaps sounded, you felt the roof you were standing on shake. It felt as if it was descending into the Shimmer but the descent felt a little bit faster now.

"As you wish" Rogue nods, before breaking into his opening, "Seems you like rhymes, or so I've been told, but I've heard all your lines, and they're just plain old~

Now you're going for the creep factor, I appreciate that, though like a has-bean actor, you fall down flat~."

Circi with another roar, she twists her whole body, indirectly dodging the knights fireball and, lifting the knight into the air again, this time gaining momentum. She spins her around, the speed picking her off the ground before circi lets go sending her flying off the roof, "So long gay knight!"

She chuckles to herself before bounding across the roof, "I got them!" She calls moving towards the sinking roof, she rushes towards twilights parasite and uses her shoulder and the top of her head as a jump board, bounding across the street to the sinking building

Rain nods, "You are quite quick." Rain smiles, "Charging something are you?" She slowly approaches, "Very well. Mind if I do the same?" She keeps inching closer until...

Rain rips the blindfold off, she uses her flashbulb.

Morgan tenses up at everything going around her for a moment before hearing Circi call out. She's airborne not a moment later after the Sinner.

"Tell me those Sinner instincts of yours detect something. I fear we're already too late" Morgan calls down

(Everyone)


The parasite Twilight was sparring with, emitted a startled, horrified shriek, as a scarlet wave of energy burst out of Twilight and covered the entire roof in a blanket of searing fire. But it didn't stop there. Strong wind blew, washing over everyone present, as the fire danced over your skin, eventually spilling beyond the borders of the roof and leaking down into the Shimmer.

Several seconds have passed, before you realized you were at the center of a giant mushroom cloud, a hundred meters in radius.

(Twilight)


The parasite was wildly shrieking, baking away and trying to put out the flames that raged over her forearms. She kept yanking the chain, causing the blade to painfully shift in your back, but when your Fireball struck her square in the face, her shrieking became deafening.

As you slashed her wrist, the chain fell out of her palm and the parasite stumbled backwards, uncontrollably thrashing and scrambling to get away from the fire, screaming in horror and pain, she didn't notice how she stepped over the edge and her writhing form fell, plummeting toward the Shimmer.

A second of respite ended abruptly, as the chain still connected with the blade in your back, suddenly yanked you and pulled you after the parasite.

It seems the weapon was attached to a metal bracelet on her wrist, to prevent it from being yanked out of her grasp. Even if she didn't hold the weapon in her palm, it was still attached to her arm.

As the shrieking parasite fell deep into the Shimmer, creating a giant splash, the chain continued to drag you to the edge of the roof, threatening to pull you down after her.





(Rogue)


"Uh tzz, uh tzz, uhu," the parasite starts busting out some sick moves in rhythm:

"Listen up son, I'm a teach you a lesson,
I lived twice as long as you, and I aim for perfection,

I specialize in Fear magic, they call me the Ripper,
I'll tear off your blindfold and make you look into the Shimmer,
Your greatest fear will manifest and turn your brain to glitter,
Your parasite will rebel and eat your soul up, though its bitter,

You won't look me in the eye, thinking I'm a scary monster,
But I don't need to see your eyes, to reduce your soul to-" Twilight had just spontaneously combusted, exploding in a giant mushroom cloud that covered the entire roof with searing fire, prompting the rapping parasite to drop everything and run to the edge of the roof shrieking.

Similar reactions are noticed among almost everyone present.






(Circi & Morgan)


With a piercing shriek, Circi's opponent flew off the edge of the roof and vanished from sight. A moment later you heard a splash so large, you saw several droplets of Shimmer fly up, almost to the height of the roof, before falling back down to street level.

With a running jump, Circi somehow made it to the sinking roof of the adjacent building. As Morgan drew close, you spotted three civilians, huddled together in a tight hug, screaming and crying in hopeless desperation. They noticed you, startled and scared, as you land a few feet away from them.

And as you do, the structure shook and began sinking more rapidly. You could already see the street level, the rivers of Shimmer that flowed all around you, carrying large chunks of debris, meter sized pieces of concrete, wardrobes and other broken furniture, long metal beams.

With the rate at which your rooftop was sinking, you and the civilians will be submerged within the next 5 seconds.





(Rain)


The parasite released a startled shriek, as a blinding flash of light struck her right in the eyes. Some sort of spell, a haze of red and green flew off her fingers and passed so close to your face, it made your hair stand up on its ends.

You've never seen a spell like that before and it felt heavy, as it shot past you into the city. Whatever it was, it felt like something very nasty and you were convinced you've never seen that particular spell before.

Completely blinded, the parasite covered her eyes with one hand, wildly slashing the air with the other and began slowly retreating. With her eyes closed, she didn't notice Twilight explode akin to a mini-nuke.

Rain swings her wing up, bocking twilight and the explosion from her gaze the flames licking past her wing, "Die." Rain huffs pushing up into the parasite with her club, watching her wild swings. She parrys her next swing, knocking her blade away, and swinging her club into the side of her leg, with a bonebreaking blow.

Rains club circles around her after the leg strike all in one movement as if weightless before crashing into the side of the parasites skull with a blow ment to shatter bone.

Circi throws her arm out in Twilights direction and casts Tendons Grasp without a second thought before wrapping her arms around the waist of two of the civilians and lowering her two right back spiderlegs and scooping up the last civilian. With aid of her actual body now she leaps into the air, latching her legs closest to the shoulders onto the next rooftop and crawling up with a visible struggle with only three legs in use.

"Oh, DAMMIT!" She shouted as she gets dragged along.

She braces herself, and charges an ice spike, then fires it through the chain. If not enough, she gives a few strike with her weapon for good measure.

Once free, she catches her breath for a moment, before trying to remove the weapon stuck in h shoulder, grunting and cursing all the way.
